The short answer

For 2027 budgeting, plan about ₱55,000–₱85,000 a month for a junior forward deployed engineer, ₱90,000–₱140,000 for mid-level, ₱150,000–₱210,000 for senior, and ₱210,000–₱300,000 for lead or principal. Late-2026 Philippine ads already showed disclosed pay from roughly ₱50,000–₱93,000, with higher-complexity estimates from ₱115,000–₱200,000. These 2027 figures are planning bands, not a published salary survey.

Important: This is an employer planning guide, not legal, tax, or payroll advice. Confirm the current SSS, PhilHealth, and Pag-IBIG tables before you put a number in a board paper. There is no single “FDE salary.”

What “forward deployed engineer” covers

Forward deployed engineer, or FDE, is still an emerging title in the Philippine technology market. It is not a mature occupational category with a long salary history. In late 2026, employers in the Philippines were already advertising FDE and closely related AI-deployment roles. [1]

The title currently covers at least three different hiring profiles. Price the profile, not the label.

Automation

Workflow deployment

An engineer deploying AI workflows into business operations. Often the lower advertised band.

Embedded engineer

Client software engineer

A strong software engineer embedded with clients or internal business teams, owning the implementation.

Architect

End-to-end owner

A senior technical architect who moves from discovery and solution design through production, adoption and optimisation.

Philippine postings ask for combinations of Python, JavaScript or TypeScript, cloud infrastructure, APIs, Docker, CI/CD, LLM applications, RAG, vector databases, automation tools, and direct stakeholder engagement. [2] The strongest candidates should be benchmarked against AI engineers, senior software engineers, cloud architects and solutions architects, not against generic automation developers.

Jobstreet’s November 2026 Solutions Architect averages exceed ₱100,000 a month in several Metro Manila cities and reach about ₱140,000 in Taguig. Some Philippine AI-engineering advertisements already list ₱140,000–₱200,000 or ₱180,000–₱200,000 a month. [5] [9] Compare those with our 2027 solution architect salary guide and 2027 AI engineer salary guide.

What late-2026 ads actually show

Dedicated Philippine FDE salary datasets are not yet available at the depth seen for Software Engineer or Solutions Architect. Searches of current Philippine salary sources found meaningful FDE-specific advertisements in 2026, but no reliable nationwide 2024 FDE benchmark and no sufficiently broad 2025 Philippine FDE sample. Do not present a 2024 or 2025 “average FDE salary” as established fact.

The best verified 2026 evidence is a small set of advertisements, not a survey.

What was advertisedMonthly figureHow to read it
Remote Philippines FDE₱63,000–₱93,000Employer-style disclosed range on a 2026 FDE posting.
Remote AI and automation FDE₱55,000–₱75,000Lower-complexity deployment and automation work.
Makati FDE / software engineer₱50,000–₱60,000A software-engineer-shaped FDE seat, not an architect seat.
Manila FDE, estimated₱115,000–₱175,000Treat as an estimate where the site labels it that way.
Taguig enterprise FDE, estimated₱120,000–₱200,000Asked for at least seven years of cloud-platform architecture.

Glassdoor’s Taguig job listings have also shown FDE advertisements around ₱50,000 and ₱50,000–₱60,000. The remote, automation and Makati ranges above are the disclosed cluster. The Manila and Taguig figures should be treated cautiously where the site labels them as estimates rather than employer-disclosed compensation. [6] [7]

Adjacent-role data supports a higher ceiling. Jobstreet’s November 2026 Solutions Architect data places Taguig at about ₱140,000 a month, Quezon City at ₱125,000, Mandaluyong at ₱110,000, Makati at ₱109,000, and Manila at about ₱103,750. Glassdoor reports Philippine Solutions Architect median total pay at about ₱139,000 a month. Base pay sits below total pay when additional compensation is included. [8]

Current Jobstreet AI listings include remote or hybrid roles at ₱100,000–₱150,000, ₱140,000–₱200,000, ₱150,000–₱200,000, and ₱180,000–₱200,000 a month. Junior AI roles can still appear below ₱40,000. That spread matches an FDE market where autonomy, cloud architecture, production AI experience and client-facing work change the offer. [9]

NodeFlair’s 2025 Philippine software-engineering dataset is context for the underlying engineering market, not an FDE benchmark. Its 2025 medians were about ₱42,500 for junior, ₱70,000 for mid-level, ₱95,000 for senior and ₱105,000 for lead software engineers. NodeFlair warns that the Philippine sample contained fewer than 200 datapoints. An FDE role that requires client ownership and production AI should normally sit above those generic software-engineering medians. [10] See the 2026 software engineer salary guide for the general engineering comparison.

Recommended 2027 salary bands

These ranges are a 2027 planning model. They are derived from late-2026 Philippine FDE advertisements, adjacent AI-engineering and solutions-architecture compensation, and current inflation expectations. They are not observed 2027 salaries. [3]

Each bar is the lower and upper 2027 hiring budget for that level. This is not a historical FDE time series. The 2025 software-engineering medians and the 2026 FDE advertisements are evidence behind the bands. The 2027 points used later in the employer-cost table are planning midpoints inside these ranges: ₱70,000, ₱115,000, ₱180,000 and ₱255,000. [13]

Senior FDEs sit above conventional software-engineer medians because current Philippine FDE descriptions expect end-to-end ownership: business discovery, architecture, AI implementation and production deployment in one role. [11]

The macro backdrop supports allowing some upward movement from late-2026 rates, without locking the budget to one inflation print. The Philippine government’s July 2026 DBCC assumptions projected 4%–5% inflation for 2027. The IMF’s September 2026 mission projected about 4.1% 2027 inflation. The BSP’s earlier February forecast was lower. Use a range. [12]

How location changes the 2027 budget

Metro Manila remains the strongest salary reference. The largest volume of enterprise technology, architecture and high-end AI jobs is concentrated there, and current Solutions Architect compensation is highest in places such as Taguig, Quezon City and Makati. [14] FDE-specific datasets for Cebu and Davao are still too thin for independent city averages. Treat the rows below as hiring-budget guidance.

Metro Manila₱60k–₱85k₱95k–₱140k₱155k–₱210k₱220k–₱300k
Cebu₱55k–₱80k₱85k–₱130k₱140k–₱195k₱200k–₱275k

Remote Philippines₱55k–₱85k₱90k–₱140k₱150k–₱210k₱210k–₱300k

The remote band overlaps Metro Manila on purpose. Current remote Philippine AI roles already reach ₱150,000–₱200,000 and ₱180,000–₱200,000. Remote hiring does not automatically produce a large provincial discount for scarce AI talent. [9]

What you pay on top of base salary

For a regular Philippine employee, employer cost includes the statutory 13th-month payment plus employer-funded SSS, PhilHealth and Pag-IBIG. At current contribution ceilings, the maximum employer SSS contribution is ₱3,530 a month including Employees’ Compensation, the employer half of PhilHealth can reach ₱2,500 a month, and employer Pag-IBIG contributions generally cap at ₱200 a month. [4] The method is the same one in our SSS, PhilHealth and Pag-IBIG guide.

  • SSS. From January 2025, SSS uses a 15% total contribution rate. The employer share is 10% of Monthly Salary Credit, with a maximum MSC of ₱35,000. At that bracket the employer contribution is ₱3,530 a month, including ₱30 Employees’ Compensation. Twelve months is ₱42,360.
  • PhilHealth. The published 2025 schedule keeps a 5% premium on monthly basic salary, with a floor of ₱10,000 and a ceiling of ₱100,000. The contribution is shared, so the maximum employer share is ₱2,500 a month.
  • Pag-IBIG. The maximum fund salary used here is ₱10,000. A 2% employer contribution above the relevant threshold produces a typical maximum of ₱200 a month, or ₱2,400 a year.
  • 13th-month pay. Private-sector rank-and-file employees are generally entitled to at least one-twelfth of total basic salary earned during the calendar year.

₱255,000₱3,060,000₱255,000₱42,360₱30,000₱2,400₱3,389,760

The four rows are the midpoints of the junior, mid-level, senior and lead bands. The SSS column is ₱3,530 × 12, so it includes Employees’ Compensation. PhilHealth is 2.5% of ₱70,000 for the first row, and the ₱100,000 ceiling for the other three. The table excludes payroll taxes borne by the employee, recruitment fees, laptops, office costs, HMO, performance bonuses, stock compensation, paid leave utilisation, overtime or night differential, and any contribution change after November 2026.

Statutory leave can add labour cost. Eligible employees generally receive five days of Service Incentive Leave after one year, unless an exemption applies or the employer already provides at least an equivalent benefit. [19]

A recruiter-led search is a separate line. Permhunt Search is 25% of annual base salary, invoiced when the candidate signs. On the ₱180,000 example, annual base is ₱2,160,000 and the search fee is ₱540,000 once. Permhunt Search+ is 30% when the role cannot wait. How that one-time fee compares with an employer-of-record seat or a staff-augmentation markup is in the hiring-model comparison.

What the role should include

A forward deployed engineer is not a software engineer who occasionally speaks with users. Current descriptions put the FDE at the intersection of engineering, product, operations and the customer or business team: identify the problem, design the approach, build it, deploy it, and make sure people adopt it. [20]

For Philippine hiring, the role maps into four capability groups. [21]

Production software

Python, JavaScript or TypeScript, APIs, databases, Git, testing, Docker and CI/CD.

AI implementation

LLM APIs, RAG, embeddings, vector databases, agents, prompt engineering and evaluation.

Infrastructure

AWS, Azure or another cloud, production deployment, observability, security and integration architecture.

Forward deployment

Stakeholder discovery, requirements interpretation, product judgment, communication with non-technical users, and ownership of a measurable outcome.

  • Junior. Effective with strong programming fundamentals and some deployment experience, if a senior engineer handles architecture and customer ambiguity.
  • Mid-level. Independently implements integrations and production workflows.
  • Senior. Owns architecture and ambiguous stakeholder problems end to end.
  • Lead. Shapes architecture across teams, mentors engineers, influences stakeholders and makes trade-offs at enterprise scale.

Current senior Philippine postings already request five to seven or more years of relevant software, cloud or architecture experience at the higher-responsibility end of the market. [22]

Candidate availability stays tight because employers are competing across several pools at once: AI engineers, senior backend or full-stack engineers, cloud architects, solutions architects and technically strong consultants. Searching only for “Forward Deployed Engineer” will miss people whose current title is different. That is an inference from the small number of Philippine FDE postings next to the much larger volume of AI, software and architecture ads. [23] Leadership searches in the same market include an AI engineering manager or a cloud solutions architect.

The strongest salary drivers are production AI experience, cloud architecture depth, customer-facing delivery, autonomy, domain knowledge in regulated industries, US or international client exposure, and the ability to own a project through production and adoption rather than stop at a prototype.

Where to look, and how to interview

Combine inbound sourcing with targeted outreach. The title is still emerging. LinkedIn is useful for engineers whose current title is AI Engineer, Solutions Architect, Technical Consultant, Senior Software Engineer, Cloud Architect or Solutions Engineer. Jobstreet reaches the broader Philippine technology market and is where many employers disclose pay. Universities help mainly for a junior pipeline. Engineering meetups and cloud, Python, data and AI communities surface experienced people who are not applying. [25]

For senior or niche hiring, use a recruitment search when you need proactive sourcing rather than applicants. That is especially true when the person’s current title is not “Forward Deployed Engineer” but the work already matches the operating model. Employee referrals also work, because the pool overlaps senior engineering and architecture networks.

Interview and assessment checklist

Test technical ability and delivery judgment together.

  1. Technical screening. Fluency in the primary backend language, APIs, databases, cloud deployment and production debugging.
  2. AI systems review. A production AI or automation system the candidate personally shipped: model selection, data flow, evaluation, failure modes, observability and cost.
  3. Discovery exercise. An ambiguous business problem. Score the questions they ask before they propose a solution.
  4. Architecture exercise. A high-level design covering application components, data, security, deployment and operational monitoring.
  5. Hands-on build. A bounded exercise: an API integration, AI workflow, agent, or production-style automation. Skip a generic algorithm puzzle.
  6. Stakeholder simulation. Explain the design to a non-technical stakeholder, then handle a change in requirements.
  7. Ownership interview. Failed deployments, trade-offs, production incidents, and a time they challenged a stakeholder’s requested solution.
  8. Reference validation. Confirm they owned deployments and customer interactions, rather than supporting someone else’s delivery.

That structure matches current FDE vacancies, which emphasise end-to-end ownership, production deployment, stakeholder interaction and architecture. [26]

Forward Deployed Engineer — Philippines

Location: Philippines, remote or hybrid · Full-time · Indicative salary: ₱120,000–₱180,000 a month, depending on experience

We are hiring a Forward Deployed Engineer to work directly with business and customer teams: identify high-value problems, design practical technical solutions, and deploy production systems that deliver measurable results.

The person operates at the intersection of software engineering, AI, cloud infrastructure and business operations, and is comfortable moving from an ambiguous requirement to a working production solution.

Responsibilities

  • Work with stakeholders to identify operational and product problems worth solving.
  • Design, build and deploy production applications, integrations, AI workflows and automation.
  • Develop backend services and APIs using Python, JavaScript/TypeScript or a comparable language.
  • Build and integrate LLM-powered applications, agents, RAG workflows and third-party APIs where appropriate.
  • Deploy and maintain systems in a cloud environment.
  • Own projects from discovery and architecture through implementation, testing, deployment and adoption.
  • Monitor production performance, troubleshoot failures and improve reliability.
  • Explain technical decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Required experience

  • Strong software-engineering fundamentals and professional experience shipping production software.
  • APIs, databases, Git and modern development workflows.
  • At least one major cloud platform.
  • Comfort with incomplete requirements, independent ownership, and clear written and verbal communication.

Preferred experience

  • Production experience with generative AI, LLM APIs, RAG or agents.
  • Docker, CI/CD and observability.
  • Customer-facing or consulting experience, workflow automation and enterprise integrations.
  • Previous work with international teams or customers.

What we offer

  • Competitive Philippine-market compensation, HMO and statutory benefits, including 13th-month pay.
  • Remote or hybrid flexibility and modern engineering tooling.
  • Direct exposure to high-impact customer and business problems.
  • A technical path toward Senior, Lead or Principal FDE responsibilities.

The sample range of ₱120,000–₱180,000 fits a strong mid-to-senior profile. It lines up with the upper half of current Philippine AI-engineering and architecture compensation, not with lower-cost generic automation roles. [27]

Before you negotiate, decide whether you are hiring a mid-level implementation engineer or an autonomous FDE. Underpaying an architect-level FDE against a generic software-engineer benchmark invites an offer rejection. That candidate can also compete for solutions-architecture, cloud, AI and senior software roles that already command six-figure monthly compensation in the Philippines. [28]

Set the base range before interviewing. Reserve the top 15%–20% for rare combinations: enterprise architecture plus production AI, direct international client ownership, regulated-industry expertise, or a proven deployment of a large-scale agentic system. That is a compensation-management practice, not a statutory rule.

For an international employer, a strong offer often combines competitive base pay with remote flexibility, HMO including dependents, an equipment allowance, a performance bonus and a clear progression path. Current Philippine technology advertisements already use HMO, allowances, performance bonuses and annual salary adjustments as differentiators. Equity or options show up more often in startups and internationally funded companies than in conventional Philippine corporate packages. There is no reliable national dataset on FDE-specific equity. [9]

Retention follows what makes the role attractive: ownership, technical breadth, meaningful production systems, and direct influence on a product or customer outcome. Turning the role into repetitive ticket execution loses the autonomous engineers hired for forward deployment. The largest uncertainty in this guide is market classification. FDE is still too new in the Philippines for a statistically robust nationwide benchmark by seniority and city. Treat the bands as 2027 hiring budgets, check them against live candidate expectations when you open the role, and keep employer-disclosed salaries separate from third-party estimates. [29]

Quick answers

Frequently asked questions

What should I budget for a forward deployed engineer in the Philippines in 2027?

A defensible 2027 planning range is about ₱55,000–₱85,000 a month for a junior FDE, ₱90,000–₱140,000 for mid-level, ₱150,000–₱210,000 for senior, and ₱210,000–₱300,000 for lead or principal. These are hiring-budget bands built from late-2026 Philippine advertisements and adjacent AI and solutions-architecture pay. They are not an official salary survey.

Is there a published average FDE salary for 2024 or 2025?

No. Dedicated Philippine FDE salary datasets are not yet deep enough to treat 2024 or 2025 as a mature market average. Use the late-2026 job ads as evidence, and label the 2027 bands as a planning model.

How much does an FDE cost an employer on top of base salary?

Budget the 13th-month payment plus employer SSS, PhilHealth and Pag-IBIG. At a ₱180,000 monthly base, an indicative statutory cash cost is about ₱2,414,760 a year before HMO, equipment, bonuses and the search fee. Employer SSS, PhilHealth and Pag-IBIG are already at or near their ceilings at that salary.

Are remote FDE salaries lower than Metro Manila?

Do not assume a large provincial discount. Current remote Philippine AI roles already reach ₱150,000–₱200,000 and ₱180,000–₱200,000 a month. The remote planning band in this guide overlaps Metro Manila.

Who should an FDE salary be compared with?

Compare a strong FDE with AI engineers, senior software engineers, cloud architects and solutions architects. Jobstreet’s November 2026 Solutions Architect averages exceed ₱100,000 a month in several Metro Manila cities and reach about ₱140,000 in Taguig. Generic automation-developer pay is the wrong benchmark.

When should I use a recruiter for this role?

Use a recruiter when the person you need is not applying under the title Forward Deployed Engineer. The relevant pool sits across AI engineers, senior software engineers, cloud architects and solutions architects. Permhunt Search is 25% of annual base salary, invoiced when the candidate signs, and is separate from salary and statutory contributions.

How to use these numbers

  1. The 2027 salary bands are planning figures from late-2026 Philippine FDE advertisements, Jobstreet Solutions Architect and AI-engineer listings, and NodeFlair’s 2025 software-engineering medians. They are not a promise of what a candidate will accept in 2027.
  2. Where a job site labels a figure as an estimate, keep it separate from employer-disclosed pay.
  3. Employer contributions follow the schedules cited above, including the ₱35,000 SSS salary-credit cap and the ₱100,000 PhilHealth ceiling. Recheck them before payroll.
  4. 13th-month pay follows the one-twelfth rule for covered employees. Confirm coverage before you drop it from a senior-role budget.
  5. Permhunt fees on the pricing page at the date of this article are 25% of annual base salary for Search and 30% for Search+. They are not part of the statutory cash-cost table.
