Position Overview
Our client is seeking a Core Platform Engineer to join their Professional Services team. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on designing, building, and operating enterprise cloud platforms. The successful candidate will work alongside senior engineers and architects to deliver scalable, secure, and highly available cloud infrastructure while contributing to client engagements across various industries.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in cloud infrastructure, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), containerization, automation, and production operations, combined with excellent communication skills and a client-focused mindset.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, deploy, and maintain scalable, resilient, and cost-effective cloud infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or equivalent cloud platforms (AWS/Azure).
- Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and other automation tools.
- Build, automate, and optimize CI/CD pipelines and cloud deployment processes.
- Implement cloud platform best practices covering security, observability, reliability, disaster recovery, and cost optimization.
- Deploy and manage containerized workloads using Docker and Kubernetes in production environments.
- Monitor production environments, troubleshoot infrastructure issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventive improvements.
- Participate in client discovery sessions, technical workshops, architecture discussions, and project delivery activities.
- Support security compliance initiatives by implementing controls aligned with industry standards such as GDPR, HIPAA, and PCI DSS where applicable.
- Collaborate with senior engineers through design reviews, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to technical documentation, standards, and platform engineering best practices.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years' experience building and supporting production cloud infrastructure.
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience with one major cloud platform (Google Cloud Platform, AWS, or Microsoft Azure).
- Experience delivering enterprise cloud solutions within consulting, professional services, or platform engineering environments is highly preferred.
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- Google Compute Engine (GCE), Amazon EC2, or Azure Virtual Machines
- Kubernetes platforms (GKE, EKS, AKS)
- Cloud networking, Identity & Access Management (IAM), and cloud security
- CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation
- Proven experience using Terraform for Infrastructure as Code.
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes in production environments.
- Familiarity with Helm, Kustomize, OpenTofu, Pulumi, AWS CDK, Azure ARM/Bicep, or similar IaC tools is advantageous.
- Strong scripting skills using Python, Go, Bash, PowerShell, or similar languages.
- Solid understanding of Linux administration and enterprise operating systems such as RHEL, Ubuntu, and Windows Server.
- Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Chef, Puppet), Packer, or automated image creation is a plus.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve infrastructure and cross-platform technical issues.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional cloud certification (Google Cloud, AWS, or Microsoft Azure) or actively pursuing certification.
- Google Cloud Professional certification is highly desirable.
- Experience working within highly regulated industries such as Financial Services, Healthcare, or Government.
- Exposure to compliance automation using Infrastructure as Code.
- Interest in technical thought leadership, open-source contributions, mentoring, or supporting recruitment and capability development.
