Our client is a Google Cloud Premier Partner headquartered in the US, with operations across the US, Japan, Singapore, and the Philippines. The company specialises in location intelligence solutions, helping organisations use geospatial data to improve operations through web and mobile applications.

Their solutions are built using Google Maps, Google Cloud technologies, and open systems to bring different information sources together into a map-based operating view for enterprise clients.

As part of their continued growth across Asia Pacific, our client is looking for an experienced GCP Architect to join their team in the Philippines.

This role is ideal for someone who is highly independent, technically strong, commercially aware, and comfortable working directly with customers on cloud architecture, deployment, reliability, and solution design.

About the Role

As a GCP Architect, you will be responsible for designing, optimising, and supporting cloud-based solutions for client projects. You will work closely with customers, sales teams, project managers, technical leads, and business analysts to scope, design, and deliver Google Cloud-based geospatial solutions.

The role sits close to a Site Reliability Engineering function, combining elements of systems operations, DevOps, cloud architecture, deployment, and infrastructure reliability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design cloud solutions for customer projects, including optimisation, tuning, and architecture improvements.
  • Manage Google Cloud Platform and Google Maps API environments.
  • Configure and manage services such as App Engine, Kubernetes Engine, and Compute Engine.
  • Manage server access, permissions, and cloud infrastructure provisioning.
  • Ensure cloud designs are reliable, scalable, fit for purpose, and cost-efficient.
  • Support service reliability across SLOs, SLIs, and SLAs.
  • Lead deployment activities and help ensure systems remain available and stable 24/7.
  • Work directly with customers to understand their architecture requirements, both stated and implied.
  • Support presentations, reporting, demonstrations, and technical discussions where required.
  • Partner with the sales team on pre-sales cloud solutioning, scoping, estimation, and proposal support.
  • Assess customer needs, constraints, expectations, and technical limitations.
  • Review existing systems and applications to identify opportunities for improvement or integration.
  • Translate customer requirements into clear project specifications.
  • Identify potential issues between client systems, specifications, and proposed solutions.
  • Work with project teams to assess timelines, technical effort, and GCP-related costs.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies, methodologies, cloud patterns, and market offerings.
  • Apply sound judgement when solving cloud and geospatial technology challenges.
  • Support the implementation of cloud security standards, policies, and frameworks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience as a Cloud Systems Administrator, Cloud Engineer, Cloud Architect, or similar role.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform.
  • Experience managing cloud infrastructure, deployments, reliability, access, and cost optimisation.
  • Strong understanding of cloud architecture, systems operations, DevOps, and infrastructure reliability.
  • Comfortable working directly with customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Experience with Google Maps APIs, geospatial systems, or location intelligence solutions would be highly advantageous.
