Our client is looking for a hands-on QA Engineer to support the delivery of enterprise technology projects for an Australian-based organisation. This role is suited to someone with strong automation testing experience across mobile, web, API, and end-to-end testing environments.
The successful candidate will be responsible for building and maintaining automated test coverage, supporting test strategy, managing test data, triaging defects, and contributing to quality reporting across a structured delivery program. Experience in payments, banking, fintech, or other regulated environments would be highly regarded.
Key Requirements
- 3+ years of hands-on QA or test engineering experience within enterprise technology environments.
- Strong experience with automation testing tools such as Appium, Playwright, Puppeteer, Mocha, or similar frameworks.
- Hands-on experience writing end-to-end automation tests, not just configuring existing test tools.
- Experience with AI-assisted testing tools, including test case generation, synthetic test data, or risk-based test selection.
- Strong understanding of test data management, including synthetic or masked data, PII handling, and data compliance requirements.
- Strong defect triage, root-cause analysis, and issue reproduction skills.
- Comfortable working in structured environments with quality gates, severity-level defect tracking, and formal delivery metrics.
- Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
- Reliable internet connection when working remotely, as the role will involve connecting to client-managed environments.
Desirable Skills
- API test automation experience, ideally across microservices environments.
- Experience within payments, card issuing, core banking, fintech, or other regulated financial technology domains.
- Experience preparing test strategies, test plans, or QA documentation for fixed-scope or iteration-based delivery models.
- Exposure to performance, resilience, or load testing tools such as k6, JMeter, or similar.
- Exposure to security testing practices or tools such as OWASP ZAP, SAST, DAST, or security quality gates.
- Experience contributing to internal QA playbooks, automation standards, or AI-assisted testing frameworks.
- Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using Buildkite or similar tools.
- Experience with test reporting, monitoring, or observability platforms such as Datadog.
- Willingness to work from a Manila-based office facility using provisioned devices if required.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the test strategy and test planning for each delivery iteration.
- Design, build, and maintain automated end-to-end tests using Playwright, Puppeteer, Mocha, or comparable frameworks.
- Collaborate with developers on API-level testing and ensure test coverage is designed into the solution early.
- Use approved AI-assisted testing tools for test case generation, synthetic or masked test data creation, and risk-based test prioritisation.
- Implement self-healing automation patterns where they reduce flaky tests and ongoing maintenance effort.
- Support non-functional testing coverage, including performance smoke testing, resilience checks, and security test integration.
- Triage, reproduce, and manage defects through to resolution during delivery and post-handover support windows.
- Ensure high-severity defects are tracked, escalated, and resolved in line with agreed quality gates.
- Partner with Business Analysts on acceptance criteria and with engineers on testability, test hooks, and automation coverage.
- Contribute test-quality insights to delivery reporting, including defect density, escaped defects, automation coverage, and quality trends.
- Support showcase demonstrations by presenting clear, evidence-based quality updates and testing outcomes.
