About the role

Our client is looking for an AWS Solutions Architect to lead the design and delivery of secure, scalable, and resilient cloud environments that support modern data platforms and AI-driven applications. This role is suited to someone with strong experience in distributed systems, cloud architecture, and AWS-native engineering, with the ability to work closely with engineering, DevOps, data, and AI teams to deliver production-grade solutions.

Key responsibilities

Cloud architecture and solution design

• Design secure, scalable, and highly available cloud architectures for modern applications and data-heavy workloads.

• Lead architecture reviews and ensure solutions align with AWS best practices across security, reliability, performance, and cost efficiency.

• Build high-availability and multi-region environments using core AWS services across compute, networking, and database layers.

• Produce clear technical documentation and architecture diagrams covering system, application, and data interactions.

Scalability, resilience, and performance

• Design systems that can support high traffic, strong concurrency, and enterprise-scale demand.

• Implement microservices and event-driven patterns using serverless and messaging services within AWS.

• Improve system performance through autoscaling, caching, load balancing, and infrastructure tuning.

• Support capacity planning and performance analysis to balance cost, speed, and reliability.

Security, governance, and compliance

• Design cloud environments with strong security controls including IAM, encryption, network segmentation, and private access patterns.

• Implement monitoring and protection services to support threat detection, application security, and ongoing governance.

• Ensure environments meet enterprise compliance expectations and regulated industry requirements.

• Build secure delivery pipelines with controls for secrets management, scanning, and policy enforcement.

Infrastructure as code and deployment automation

• Manage cloud infrastructure using Terraform to maintain consistency across environments.

• Develop reusable infrastructure modules for networking, compute, storage, and data services.

• Support release workflows across development, QA, staging, and production environments.

• Implement rollout strategies such as blue-green and canary deployment approaches to reduce production risk.

API and data platform design

• Design secure and scalable APIs, including authentication, rate limiting, and observability requirements.

• Architect data layers across relational, NoSQL, and emerging AI-supporting database technologies.

• Establish governance standards for data handling, encryption, retention, and auditability.

• Support both real-time and batch data flows connected to analytics and AI model services.

Monitoring, observability, and operational readiness

• Implement monitoring, logging, and tracing frameworks to support platform visibility and faster troubleshooting.

• Define service targets and operational standards for critical production systems.

• Create incident response processes, alerting mechanisms, and operational runbooks.

• Improve cloud cost visibility through reporting and optimization practices.

Technical leadership

• Provide guidance and mentoring to engineers and platform teams on architecture and cloud design decisions.

• Contribute to architecture governance and help maintain consistent engineering standards.

• Work closely with product, security, data, and AI stakeholders to ensure solutions meet technical and commercial goals.

• Present architectural recommendations clearly through documentation, discussions, and stakeholder sessions.

Requirements

Core experience

• 8+ years of experience in cloud architecture, software engineering, or distributed systems design.

• Strong hands-on AWS experience across services such as EC2, ECS, EKS, Lambda, RDS, S3, API Gateway, and infrastructure automation tooling.

• Proven experience designing and supporting scalable, fault-tolerant production systems.

• Strong backend engineering background, ideally with Python and Node.js.

• Experience building secure enterprise systems with an understanding of compliance and governance requirements.

• Strong communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.

Nice to have

• AWS certifications such as Solutions Architect Professional or Security Specialty.

• Experience working with AWS multi-account environments and landing zone structures.

• Exposure to AI or ML deployment environments, including scalable model-serving architectures.

• Experience in enterprise sectors such as telecom, financial services, or other regulated industries.

• Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and automated compliance controls.
